Begerac was the popular classic eighties crime drama that starred John Nettles as detective sergeant Jim Bergerac who dealt with non-Jersey residents with-in the police force, but later became a private investigator. The series was set on the island of Jersey and ran for nine seasons from 1981 to 1991.
The eighties series took on controversial topics with some episodes ending in unpleasant twists. The protagonist Bergerac also had a dark background of alcoholism, divorce and a crushed leg.
Now the series is set to return to our screens as Artist Studios picks it up to revive the show.
About the New Series of Bergerac
Artist Studio’s executive producer Gub Neals and creator of The Fall, Prime Suspect and Cracker told the BBC that the remake will deal with “contemporary stories” and would boast a “strong serial spine”.
Neals also mentioned that they have been trying to bring back Bergerac for quite some time and that they are extremely happy to bring the series to a new generation.
Bergerac Reboot Air Date
Currently there is no UK air date set for the series, we imagine it will be quite some time before this information is announced, as it’s still very early on for an air date announcement.
Bergerac New Series Channel
The Bergerac reboot is looking to be commissioned by the new Paramount Network channel, in a hope to develop Paramount’s network of channels outside of the US.
John Nettles used to play Jersey’s crime hero, but at this moment in time it is not clear who will play the protagonist in the new series. We will update this page as soon as we find out more about the cast!
How to watch the original series of Bergerac
