Survival Guide for Comic Con London 2019 – Hotels, Eateries and need-to-know information!

comic con london 2019 survival guide

A must-read survival guide for Comic Con London 2019 including the best hotels, where to eat, what day to go and more!

Comic Con London Hotels

There are quite a few hotel options when staying in London. So instead I am going to provide a list of just hotels that are “on-site” (the closest hotels to the venue) and accommodating for all kinds of budgets.

On-site Hotels:
Novotel London ExCel
Ibis London ExCel
Crowne Plaza London Dock

On-site Budget Hotels:
Custom House Hotel
Travel Inn Capital Hotel
Ramada Hotel and Suites

I would recommend checking both Booking.com and Hotels.com as these sites are probably the biggest hotel booking websites and their deals can vary.

Where To Eat at Comic Con?

Comic Con will have quite a few unique food vendors in certain areas along with Excel’s food vendors, both of which will come at a high price for the convenience.

The budget hotels will also provide food at a reasonable (reasonable for London) price. Even if you are not staying at these hotels these are still a fairly good option and tend to be much quieter than the restaurants located in the Excel.

Some great restaurants just outside of the ExCel venue are:
Tapa Tapa
La Barrique
Eeshi’s Kitchen
Nakhon Thai

If you are wanting more restaurants close-by, check out OpenTable’s restaurant map near ExCel.

What Day to go to Comic Con London?

If you’re looking for the busiest day, then definitely go on Saturday, you’ll see more cosplayers and people, but expect much longer queues.

If you’re looking for a quieter day (although it doesn’t get much more quiet), perhaps you would like to take the family out, then we would recommend to go on the Sunday. The last day of events generally tend to be the quietest.

Comic Con Tips and Advice

  • BOOK IN ADVANCE! Probably the single best piece of advice you can get, save the huge 2 hour long queues and get your ticket early.
  • Wear good footwear. You’re going to be on your feet a lot!
  • Take hand sanitiser. There will be a lot of germs, germs everywhere.
  • Bring your charger or batteries for your gadgets – You’ll be taking a lot of photos and using your gadgets, keep them charged.
  • Stock up on bottles of water and snacks – Drinks and food bought at the ExCel are really expensive and you will get hungry and thirsty. Take some bottles of water and snacks to keep your going.
  • Be polite to cosplayers. Ask them nicely for photos and they will be happy to do so!
