For the uninitiated amongst you, The End of the F***king World is a compelling and groundbreaking coming of age teenage angst story. Starring Alex Lawther, Jessica Barden (Penny Dreadful), and Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones) the series first aired on Channel 4 back in 2017. It was met will both audience and critical acclaim, and we’ve got some good news – it looks like filming has begun on The End of the F***king World season 2.
The first season saw Alex’s character, James, join a new high school. James thinks he’s a psychopath. Killing animals for a hobby, but ultimately becoming bored and searching for something more exciting. Something like killing a human being. His prey: Alyssa, a rebellious and nihilistic classmate, meets the criteria. The pair end up running away together, both with very different motives. However, as they spend more time together, a relationship that neither was expecting begins to flourish.
It gained a large following when it first aired, and picked up even more fans when Netflix bought the rights to the show. Lovers of the series has been clamouring for TEOTFW season 2, and it looks like their prayers have been answered. How do we know this? Well, a recent Instagram post put up by Jessica Barden (who plays Alyssa) shows something very interesting. It’s a picture of a script entitled The End of the F***king World season 2.
What’s new about The End of the F***king World season 2?
The second season of TEOTFW will see the return of Lawther, Barden and Wheelan. It will also include the same writers present for season one; including Murray Ferguson, Andy Baker, Ed McDonald and Jonathan Entwistle. The means we can expect the themes and story present to be largely the same as the first. Good news in our opinion.
The End of the F***king World season 2 will be shown first on Channel 4 before being broadcast internationally via Netflix. Stay tuned for an official air date when it gets announced.
