Fans have been waiting a long time for this one. There’s always a lot of speculation around the premiere dates for Modern Family in the UK. We’ve now got a confirmed date however. Sky have announced that Modern Family season 10 will begin showing on Friday February 1st, 2019 on Sky One.
The US saw the release of this latest season back in September, so 5 months isn’t huge wait for the airing of this season in the UK. Seasons in the past, especially those broken up into parts, were often not seen for much longer than this.
There have been a lot of rumours regarding the 10th iteration of ABC’s hit comedy. It was initially thought that Modern Family season 10 would mark the end and a finale for the show. However, it seems to be the case that the network and actors alike are becoming interested in producing an 11th.
For those of you unaware, Modern Family is a multi-generational, family sitcom/mockumentary. Think The Office (US) meets Arrested Development, but all the drama and comedy come from one family. Following the life of Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill) and his extended family throughout Los Angeles; Jay has recently remarried a much younger woman, Gloria Pritchett (Sofia Vergara). The show also depicts the lives of his two children Claire (Julie Bowen) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), alongside their respective families.
As far as the possibility of season 11 is concerned, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Steven Levitan (show creator) said the following.
“There’s definitely interest from the studio and network and we’re all trying to figure out if that’s what we want to do.”
“There’s a general desire from just about everybody involved to not say goodbye yet. There are a couple hurdles that have to be climbed. We’ll see if it all comes together.”
This all sounds promising, but fans will have to sit tight at the moment. For now you’ll be able to enjoy Modern Family season 10 when it starts in February.
