True Detective season 3: When will it air?
It’s been a long time since the first season of any show had quite the same impact as True Detective did back in 2014. Whether it was the star-studded cast, incredible writing, or consistent moody and gripping cinematography that kept viewers locked in we don’t know, but it worked. The second attempt was a far more lacklustre affair, and led to a lot of criticism online, seemingly due to a rushed production time frame. True Detective season 3 however, is hoping to change that.
HBO’s anthology series is back with a brand new cast, including Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali – he’ll be portraying Wayne Hays, a detective from Arkansas investigating a series of murdered children. Online reports have also reported that filming for True Detective season 3 has wrapped. We’ve also been given an air date for the US: January 13th, 2019.

But when and where are fans in the UK going to be able to access True Detective season 3 I hear you ask? Well the logical assumption for where is pretty easy, all former HBO big hitters have aired on Sky Atlantic, so we’re definitely expecting to see it there. When, on the other hand, is a bit trickier. We see the likes of Game of Thrones and Westworld being released on very similar timeframes, so hopefully we’ll see the same here.
True Detective season 3: Brand new trailer released
We’ve just seen a hot new trailer released for True Detective season 3 on Friday 2nd, November. It looks to have all the ingredients (akin to season one) for another spellbinding rendition of moody police work at its best. Not only do we see Ali in a number of gripping – flashback ridden – scenes, there’s also glimpses of supporting actors Stephen Dorff and Carmen Ejogo as well. Check it out below, we are seriously hoping this lives up to the heights of True Detective season 1.
