The Boys is an upcoming TV series based on a popular comic book, which takes on a different perspective in a superhero world. This is not your cliche superhero movie, but it is still a TV series to watch if you like superhero movies and TV shows.
So, what is The Boys all about?
Based on The New York Times best-selling comic book, by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys takes a look into a world where superheros, who have become celebrities and revered as gods abuse their superpowers, instead of using them to help the world.
You may be asking, what happens when an unstoppable force is corrupt and abuses their powers? Well, that’s where “The Boys” come into play.
The Boys are a gang, which in contrast to the name, does actually contain a girl, that put a stop to shady and power abusing superheroes. In the first season of The Boys, the squad embark on a heroic quest to expose the real truth about “The Seven” – a team of elite superheros that aren’t all as good as they seem, as well as the multi-billion dollar company called Vought, which covers up all the superheroes dirty work.
The Boys Cast
Packing some great actors and actresses, The Boys does not disappoint when it comes to cast. We have broke it down so you can see which actors play what role.
In The Boys gang we have Hughie (Jack Quaid, The Hunger Games), Billy Butcher (Karl Urban, Star Trek), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso, Detroit), Frenchie (Tomer Capon, Hostages) and The Female (Karen Fukuhara, Suicide Squad). One of our favourites, Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) also guest stars as Hughie’s father.
For the antagonists we also see some familiar faces that fit the characters well. The Seven consists of Homelander (Antony Starr, Banshee) who is joined by Starlight (Erin Moriarty, Captain Fantastic), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott, House of Cards), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher, Independence Day: Resurgence), The Deep (Chace Crawford, Gossip Girl) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell, Supernatural).
Elisabeth Shue also joins the bad guys as Voughts senior VP of hero management, Madelyn Stillwell.
The Boys Uncensored Trailer – “Spank”
Comically titled “Spank”, which refers to the lines in the trailer about how you spank a superhero. If this trailer doesn’t get you hooked, I don’t know what will! The trailer is gory, gritty and hilarious, but at the same time doesn’t give much away about the story.
In the trailer we see some of the superhero characters of The Seven and also the leader of The Boys, there are also some weirdly gruesome scenes, which we won’t go into detail about, you will just have to watch the trailer to see for yourself!
When does The Boys air in the UK and where can I watch it?
