Tales from the Loop

Simon Stålenhag’s Tales from the Loop is a wildly successful crowd-funded project that takes viewers on a surprisingly marvellous sci-fi journey through various country and city landscapes shot in the small towns in Sweden and the deserts of Nevada, and also Siberia. This fascinating production stimulates the mind, with its childrens exploration and engagement with machinery large and small, abandoned robots, vehicles, all the while dinosaurs and other creatures wander about on the roads and fields.

A groundbreaking drama series Tales from the Loop, comes to you as a creation by Nathaniel Halpern (The Killing), packed with stunning visuals and scenery put together by the acclaimed Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, and based on his art book, Tales from the Loop explores the town and people who live above “The Loop,” which is a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe. Where once things were considered science fiction, now the loop allows them to make all of this possible.

A juxtaposition between a fantastical enigmatic town, poignant human tales are told by baring sentimental experiences, while drawing on the intrigue of the genre of storytelling.

The stars of the series include Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Town), Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation), Daniel Zolghadri (Eighth Grade), Duncan Joiner (Waco) and Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes, Game of Thrones)

 Fun Fact

Stålenhag’s paintings and stories take place in an alternate version of Sweden in the ’80s and ’90s, primarily in the countryside of Mälaröarna, a string of islands just west of Stockholm, and how this reality came about: the development of the Loop, a large particle accelerator and the side effects of the massive project.
