The Voice UK is a British television talent show where the winner receives £100,000 and a record deal with Republic Records. Contestants are chosen from public auditions and sing on stage behind a panel of judges. ‘Behind?’, you say? That’s right, the point of the ‘blind round’ is that the judges hear the act based solely on voice. If they like them enough, they hit their massive red button and their chair spins around (this is when we usually see a cheesy dance along until the song ends). If a judge turns, it means the contestant secures a place on that judges ‘team’. However, if multiple judges turn, they get the choice of who’s team they want to be on. The contestants then go through multiple rounds battling it out until there’s a winner.
