Downton Abbey is a British historical period drama, created by Julian Fellowes, set in 20th century England. Depicting the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family, on their Yorkshire estate, and the house servants that operated there. Giving an insight into the class system of the time the show sheds light onto the social hierarchy that existed in Britain before the first world war. Receiving widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards, Downton Abbey quickly received a vast following across the world thanks to, in part, its widespread cast including Hugh Bonneville, Maggie Smith and Michelle Dockery (Good Behaviour) to name just a few.
