We aren’t having the best of summers, they definitely seem to get shorter with more rain each year! Hopefully August can brighten things up for us, it definitely is in terms of TV!

I Am the Night
This limited six-episode series stars Chris Pine (Star Trek – film) and follows Fauna Hodel (played by India Eisley), who was given away by her teenage birth mother to a black restroom attendant in a Nevada casino in 1949. Fauna decides to investigate her past, which entails secrets that lead her on a dark path of discovery involving an infamous Hollywood gynecologist, who was connected to the murder of actress Elizabeth Short.
I am the Night airs in the UK on the channel Alibi, Thursday 1st August 2019.
This is Football
After the success of Amazon’s exclusive football documentary All or Nothing: Manchester City, they now bring us another footballing documentary.
This is Football is a heartwarming, yet powerful documentary, which explores the world of football and the massive impact it has all around the world. The series includes personal stories of how football has affected and changed lives, footballing moments that shook the world, and how Lionel Messi brings so much joy to the game that is football.
One key feature in the series is how football can bring the world together – no matter what culture, age, race or status.
This is Football is an Amazon exclusive, so will air on Amazon Prime video, Friday 2nd August 2019.
Scrapyard Supercar
Remember the TV show Scraphead Challenge? Well, Scrapyard Supercar is a similar show where two teams of amateur mechanics are put to a mechanical test, in a challenge where they must build a car from old parts and metal they can find in the scrapyard.
After a short deadline, the teams must then put their cars against a supercar in a series of challenges on the race track! The series is presented by Boyzone star and professional drift driver Shane Lynch.
Scrapyard Supercar airs on Dave, Sunday 4th August 2019.
Temptation Island
Now I know what you’re thinking, this sounds like a copy of Love Island… and you’re almost right! If you like Love Island you may be interested in Temptation Island.
Temptation Island gets four couples at the most pivotal time in their relationships and dumps them into the tropical paradise of Hawaii, where they are joined by 24 single men and women living up the single life. There the relationships will be put to the test as they will have to choose to stay in their relationship, or go their own separate ways.
Temptation Island will be available on channel E! Sunday 4th August 2019.
Euphoria
This highly-rated American TV series is definitely one to watch and stars Disney actress Zendaya (The Greatest Showman).
Euphoria is an adaption of the Israeli show with the same name. It follows the life of a troubled teenager named Rue, a drug addict, who has just come out of rehab, but doesn’t plan on staying clean for long. The series also takes a look at the lives of other high school students navigating life exploring controversial topics such as drugs, sex, violence, and mental health.
Euphoria airs in the UK on drama, Tuesday 6th August 2019.
FBI
If you’re into your procedural dramas, be sure to check out FBI. We shouldn’t really have to say what this show is about, as the name pretty much says all.
FBI is an American series, which follows a Federal Bureau of Investigation team at the New York office, as they use the latest technology and tactical skills to keep not only the big city but, their country safe.
FBI will air in the UK on Sky Witness, Thursday 8th August 2019.
NOS4A2
Horror fans take note of this one! Horror TV shows aren’t released as often as we would like, so when one comes around it is quite exciting. This time we have NOS4A2! A supernatural horror, which is based on the novel of the same name, a story of which, isn’t your typical vampire story.
NOS4A2 follows Vic McQueen, who discovers she has the ability to find lost things, which quickly throws her on a journey that crosses the path of supernatural villain Charlie Manx.
Manx feeds off the souls of children, who then dumps their remains in a place of his imagination known as Christmasland. Vic soon realizes that she is the only person that can put a stop to him, but to stop him involves great danger and a potential to lose her own life.

Brassic
One we have been waiting for since it got announced! Brassic is a comedy that features a big named cast including Joe Gilgun, Damien Molony, and Michelle Keegan.
Brassic follows Vinnie (Joe Gilgun), a lad from Lancashire with bipolar disorder and his best matte Dylan (Damien Molony). The two inseparable besties lives are turned upside down when Dylan’s girlfriend Erin (Michelle Keegan) decides she wants to leave the town and start a new life with her son.
Dylan is faced with a massive decision to either stat fresh with his girlfriend or staying behind with his mate, who he just can’t live without!
Brassic will air on Sky One in the UK, Thursday 22nd August. This is not one to be missed.
Carnival Row
Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevinge star in this fantasy crime series! Carnival Row revolves around mythical creatures who have had to flee their homeland, which is now war-torn and unsafe. As they gather in the city tension grows as the citizens and the growing immigrant population becomes unsteady.
Under all the confrontation lies an investigation into a string of unsolved murders, which are eating away at whatever peace that is left.
Carnival Row will air exclusively on Amazon Prime video Friday 30th August.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance
A handful of you will remember the 1982 Jim Henson film The Dark Crystal, well Netflix is releasing a prequel series to the film!
Keeping the same old style and staying true to the film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance follows three young Gelflings who inspire a rebellion against a cruel emperor when they discover a horrifying secret.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will air on Netflix in the UK on Friday 30th August 2019.
