Wu-Tang: An American Saga ordered by Hulu
Legendary rap artist RZA has revealed that Hulu have ordered a Wu-Tang Clan TV series, about the 90’s group. It’s set to be a straight-to-series look at the origins and rise to stardom of this classic hip-hop collective. Entitled Wu-Tang: An American Saga, the forthcoming show will be ten episodes long and available on Hulu’s streaming platform.
The series, created by RZA and Alex Tse, will involve the pair in writing and executive producing roles as well. Fellow Wu-Tang member Method Man will also serve as an executive producer. The rest of the group, including GZA, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killah, Inspectah Deck, will serve as consulting producers alongside the Estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
The isn’t the first writing that RZA been involved in, he’s released two books to date including Tao of Wu and The Wu-Tang Manual. Paired with stories behind Wu-Tang Clan’s beginnings, they will form the backbone of the series story line.
What will Wu-Tang: An American Saga be about?
Set in none other than “early ninety’s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic” the journey behind Wu-Tang: An American Saga, will feature a very unorthodox – yet still valid – American dream. Starting from the streets it will follow “Wu-Tang Clan’s journey as they set out to create “the unlikeliest of American success stories.”

RZA recently featured in an article from Variety, in which he talked about the forthcoming show. We learn that not only is this TV series being created, but also that he’s working on a biopic depicting the life of deceased Wu-Tang member, Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Here’s what RZA had to say:
“I’m delighted to be partnering with Hulu and Imagine to explore the vast story of the Wuniverse,”
and continuing with,
“Wu-Tang, through our music, has always strove to inspire as we entertain. This opportunity to continue the Wu – Saga in a 10-episode series will exponentially increase our inspirational style of entertainment. In the immortal words of ODB, ‘Wu-Tang is for the Children’.”
There’s no word currently as to when we’re likely to see this Wu-Tang TV show come to Hulu. But there is some good news for fans of the clan. According to Hypebeast, they’re set to be releasing a brand new album around the date of the 25th anniversary of Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), which is happening on November 9th this year.
