We could talk to you about the highs and lows of the seasons so far, but let’s talk physical highs and lows. Game of Thrones has a very diverse cast whose characters are all shapes and sizes, from Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) to Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (The Mountain), we take a look at how tall the Game of Thrones cast really are!
Some of the characters listed below have changed throughout the season, when this is the case, we have chosen to put the height of the latest actor from season 8 onward. We have picked out the most interestingly sized characters, along with a few favourites and average heights to compare to.
Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) Height
Being little, yet so powerful, Tyrion Lannister portrayed by Peter Dinklage has been one of our favourite characters from the very first season after he slapped Joffrey’s little smirk off his face and all the way to Essos. In the series Peter’s height is not hidden and used to help show the dwarfism of Tyrion Lannister.
Peter Dinklage’s height is 1.32m / 4.3ft.
Kit Harington (Jon Snow) Height
Jon Snow is the main man in Game of Thrones and on screen he comes across as fairly tall, brave and a true warrior, but Kit Harington’s height may actually surprise you!
Our boy Kit comes in at 1.73m / 5.6ft! You wasn’t expecting it to be that low, was you? We’re not judging though, we all come in different shapes and sizes.
Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) Height
Brienne, a feircesome warrior portrayed by the wonderful Gwendoline Christie. On screen Brienne of Tarth is extremely tall, taller than most male characters, but is this all camera trickery or is Gwendoline really tall in real life?
Gwendoline Christie’s height is 1.91m / 6.2ft. That’s almost one and a half Peter Dinklages to put that into perspective. We love that Gwendoline is bold and rocks her size, just like her character does a true role model for tall females in the world.
Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) Height
Now this one is interesting, do you think Bella is taller than Peter Dinklage or shorter? Lyanna, just like Tyrion is small, but mighty. She is full of confidence and doesn’t seem to be afraid of anyone, but then again she is a Mormont.
Bella Ramsey’s height is 1.58m / 5.2ft (more than Peter Dinklage’s height of 1.32m)
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (The Mountain) Height
One of the tallest ‘human’ characters in Game of Thrones. Known as The Mountain, he towers over any man that comes up against him. Sometimes camera tricks may be used to enhance the height, but we can assure you, Hapfor Bjornsson is the real deal.
Hapfor stands at a crazy 2.06m / 6.7ft.
Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) Height
Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons… That’s a tall order, but how tall is Emilia Clarke?
Emilia Clarke is 1.57m / 5.1ft. That is SMALLER than Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont), how mind blowing is that? Maybe Daenerys needs to add illusionist to her big long list of titles.
Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) Height
Have you ever suckled on a giant before? No, neither have we, but we imagine you need to be pretty tall to acheive that goal. Tormund is another favourite for many viewers of the series and is played by Kristofer Hivju.
Kristofer Hivju is 1.83m / 6ft tall. So, yes you do have to be tall if you are interested in giants milk.
Rory McCann (The Hound) Height
Due to his wit and sarcastic, don’t give a monkeys attitude, The Hound is a character we love to see on screen. Being a brother to The Mountain, you know that The Hound is tall.
Rory McCann’s height is 1.98m / 6.6ft, that’s just one inch smaller than Hapfor Bjornsson.
Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) Height
Maisie, where ARYA going to come in the height rankings? (See what I did there?). We have seen little Arya become one of the most skilled fighters in Westeros by being trained by the best. She takes advantage of her smaller size making her quick, agile and light-footed. How tall is Maisie Williams, you are wondering?
Maisie Williams is 1.55m / 5.0ft tall. The second smallest actor on our list so far.
Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) Height
Seemingly one of the taller Starks. Sansa is a character who we see enter unfortunate event after unfortunate event, but she is a character we adore and Sophie is an actress we love.
Sophie Turner’s height is 1.75m / 5.7ft, which looks quite realistic when in comparison with her character.
Isaac Heampstead Wright (Bran Stark) Height
We only really got to see how tall Bran was as a child, before Jamie sent him plummeting to the cold hard floor of Winterfell. Since then we have only seen him in a wheel chair, crawling, or standing in a past vision where there’s not many people to compare him with.
Isaac Heampstead stands at 1.8m / 5.9ft tall. This actually surprised us, we thought he would have been somewhat smaller.
Lena Headley (Cersei Lannister) Height
Sitting on the Iron Throne all day, would surely give you a bad back, but Cersei somehow stands tall and well postured throughout the Game of Thrones series. Lena Headley is the great actress behind the evil character, but how tall is she?
Lena Headley is 1.66m / 5.4ft. That makes her a few inches taller than Emilia Clarke.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) Height
The things he does for love! Nikolaj plays Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones and has a great character arc making him very likeable despite his history.
Nikolaj is 1.88m / 6.1ft tall. Almost the same height as Gwendoline.
Vladimir Furdik (The Night King) Height
The Night King has had a couple of actors play him, but we’re going to focus on Vladimir Furdik, the lastest actor to play the Night King. Vladimir is is actually a stuntman and has performed some of the stunts on the Game of Thrones series.
Vladimir Furdik’s height is 1.85m / 6.0ft. The same height as Kristofer Hivju.
Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) Height
Quite the unsung hero, Jorah Mormont is one of the best swordsmen in the realm and will stop at nothing for his queen. Jorah is played by the great Iain Glen.
Iain Glen is 1.85m / 6.0ft, just like the Valdimir Furdik (The Night King).
