The Greatest Dancer, known as “TGD” is the new Saturday Night talent show by Simon Cowell’s production company. The talent show focuses on dancing and is set to rival Strictly Come Dancing. Like all Simon Cowell’s talent shows, The greatest Dancer will follow the same format as X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent where contestants must get through the audition stages to reach the live finals.
The new modern talent show will feature all kinds of dance from ballet to jazz and hip hop to Bollywood. Contestants must be talented in all dance aspects and styles to make it through to the finals. Along the journey we can expect emotional and dramatic auditions with tough challenges and grand live performances.
The Greatest Dancer Presenters
Presenting the show will be Britain’s Got Talent winner and Diversity’s Jordan Banjo along with singer and X-Factor judge Alesha Dixon. Both of these have a plethora of dance knowledge and presenting skills, making them the perfect presenting duo for TGD. We’re hoping they will bounce of each other and give a real hyped up vibe for the show.
The Greatest Dancer Captains and Judges
Simon Cowell unfortunately, or fortunately for some, will not be a judge on The Greatest Dancer. Instead we will have a trio of captains come judges. Cheryl Cole, Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse will be The Greatest Dancer’s captains.
Cheryl Cole is a famous Geordie singer who came into the spotlight from performing as a singer in the pop group “Girls Aloud”, throughout her career she has gained a dance skill-set full of modern dance styles with a very sexual emotion, as recently seen in her performance on X-Factor.
Matthew Morrison is known for playing the character Will Schuester in the television series Glee as well as performing in multiple Broadway productions such as Hair Spray. Matthew’s all-round performance skills will make him a great captain and judge.
Oti Mabuse is a professional Latin American and ballroom dancer. She is best known for being one of the professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing. She fills the more classical gap knowledge and skills the other judges lack. All together the trio cover all there is to know about dance.
The Greatest Dancer Air Date
There is no specific date currently, but the show is set to air in 2019 on BBC One and will be broadcast on Saturday nights.
