An original six-part series, the Diplomat is a unique crime drama set in and around the British Consul in Barcelona. Written by Ben Richards, famous for Spooks, Cobra and others, the show follows Laura Simmons as she is faced with the task of ensuring the safety of British nationals who get caught in the often dangerous Catalan city. Assisted by friend and colleague, Alba Ortiz, Laura must tread the line between being an officer of the law, counsellor, and diplomat as she has to contend with a range of complicated cases, starting with the unexplained death of a young British barman in an infamous marina.
