Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you’ll know by now that Gossip Girl is officially getting a reboot (yay!). With the reboot not due to air till 2020, we need some binge-worthy teen dramas to fill the void till Gossip Girl finally blesses our TV screens once more. We’ve picked out some absolute gems full of drama, scandal and romance, which you’ll absolutely love if you are a massive Gossip Girl fan (but probably not quite as much because let’s be honest no one compares to Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass!).

Pretty Little Liars

Top of our list is explosive teen drama Pretty Little Liars. If you’re a thriller fan then this one will be right up your street. Set in the fictional small town of Rosewood, four estranged friends are reunited when they start receiving strange messages from a sender known as ‘A’, a year after their old friend and once leader of the clique went missing. We follow the group as they try to discover the true identity of ‘A’, and what really happened to ‘Queen Bee’ Alison DiLaurentis.

This series is packed full of so many twists and turns you’ll be left second-guessing after each episode. Blackmail, heartbreak, suspense and gossip, Pretty Little Liars truly rivals the drama you’ll find in Gossip Girl, but with a lot more mystery and a few thrills thrown in too.

Gilmore Girls is a heart-warming, comedy series not lacking a bit of drama. The series follows the relationship between single mother Lorelai and her teenage daughter Rory, and all the ups and downs of romance, family life, social class, education, and teenage adolescence. Gilmore Girls will send you on an emotional rollercoaster as the plot explores life’s unpredictable obstacles that a lot of us can relate to, which will have you both laughing and crying.

Riverdale, another teen drama that took Netflix by storm. The American TV series first aired in 2017, with season 4 due to be released towards the end of the of this year. So if you’re after that perfect binge-worthy show, Riverdale may well be the answer.

The small American town of Riverdale is rocked when a popular teenage boy named Jason is tragically found dead. A group of high school friends seek to uncover the truth of what happened to Jason and in turn discover some dark secrets surrounding their seemingly innocent hometown. This series is full of mystery whilst following the trials and tribulations of high school teenage life.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

An adaption of everyone’s favourite childhood magical TV series, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is definitely one to add to your watch list. This coming-of-age story has a dark twist that has Sabrina wrestling with being half-witch, half-mortal. In the lead up to her 16th birthday, Sabrina must choose between the mortal world and her friends or the world of witchcraft and her family.

If you are a fan of the classic Sabrina the Teenage Witch then be prepared for a few thrills in this adaption, as it is a world away from the innocent and somewhat cheesy classic we are all used to.

The Society

The Society

The Society is another teen drama, which was released on Netflix back in May 2019. The show follows a group of teenagers as they suddenly find themselves completely alone in what seems to be their hometown, everybody but themselves have disappeared; yet everything else seems exactly the same. The group must work together to find their way back to reality, and on the way, they are forced to grow up very quickly as they soon realise it isn’t all happy families.

If you love a good teen drama then this is one to watch, it explores the relationship dynamics of a set of a completely different group of teenagers. As you’d expect, there will be lots of tears, tantrums and of course, sex.

90210

90210 – an absolute classic in our opinion, and one to rival the glitz and glamour of Gossip Girl. Set in the west coast of America in the state of California, 90210 follows the life of a group of high school teenagers and the social dramas they encounter in the wealthy area of Beverley Hills. Much like Gossip Girl, you’ll find plenty of drama that will keep you glued to the TV screen, and some great characters that you’ll have a love-hate relationship with.

If you want glamour, fashion, and scandal then 90210 is definitely right up your street, and will fill that Gossip Girl shaped hole in your life.

One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill TV Show Image

One Tree Hill is a golden oldie and another classic that spanned over 9 years, first hitting our TV screens way back in 2003. The show explores the rivalry between two basketball players who turn out to be half-brothers. What’s worse is they both set their sights on the same girl Peyton Sawyer (Hilary Burton) and things just go from bad to worse between the two brothers. Following the eventful life of a group of young adults and the sensitive issues that they face including sex, violence, drugs, affairs, conflicts, etc. It’s a real coming of age story that deals with important issues that many of us may face whilst growing up.

With 9 series to watch and over 180 episodes, you might just fit in the entire show just before the reboot of Gossip Girl is launched.
