Cult classic Lost, first airing in 2004, is a science fiction thriller that brings in themes of a supernatural nature as well. It follows the survivors of a commercial jet airliner crash as they are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island. Crashing on a South Pacific island, during a routine flight between Sydney and Los Angeles, the group are thrown into a tale of turmoil and mystery. The widespread cast included famous names like Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries) and Josh Holloway (Colony).

The filming took place on Hawaii and at the time was was of the most expensive in TV history, with the pilot alone costing $14 million. Although at times slightly hard to get your head round (with different timelines going on), the detailed narrative and compelling plot lines are just a couple of reasons why you should get your teeth stuck into this piece of TV history.

It graced our TV screens between 2004 and 2010 and consisted of 121 episodes, during this time it consistently ranked at the top of TV critics’ lists and picked up hundreds of awards.
